The Honda CRF450R is the benchmark competition motocross bike in the 450 cc class. It is not road-legal in standard form – track and off-road use only. It is not a road-registrable production motorcycle, and the A2 licence threshold (35 kW) does not apply to a competition off-road machine.
The 449.7 cc engine displacement has been stable since 2011 (449 cc on the 2004-2012 generation). However, power output and bodywork evolve significantly with each major revision: from 53 bhp on the earliest carburetted generations (2004-2008), up to 62 bhp (45.6 kW) from 2025 onwards. The engine remains a liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke with a 5-speed gearbox, but the plastics and mounting points change at every major overhaul – notably in 2021 and again in 2025. A graphic kit designed for one generation will not fit another.
Graphic kits are offered by model-year platform: 2004-2012, 2011-2016, 2013-2016 / 2017-2020, 2021-2024, and 2025-2026. These platforms correspond to structural bodywork changes: panel shapes, logo positions, mudguard height. Ordering the wrong platform means the kit will not fit.
