How to install a motorbike graphic kit?

Step 1 : preparation of surfaces

Degreasing the fairings is the essential step before fitting the graphic kit to your bike. If this step is not done correctly, your sticker will not stick perfectly to the plastics and will come off in places.

WARNING !

  • Do not place them on damaged parts.
  • New fairing are covered with release wax, so be sure to apply it until it is “dry” to the touch.
  • Petrol, white spirit, or “WD40” type products should not be used.

Step 2 : View and test your location

Position and adjust the sticker on its location (without applying it) so that you can see how you will position it.

Step 3 : Stick the graphic kit on your bike

Start with small elements to familiarise yourself with the material. Always start with a gluing from the centre of the piece. Remove air bubbles by pressing outwards with a squeegee or thermal glove.

If the piece you are working on has big reliefs, consider heating the sticker with a heat gun or hair dryer when you have difficulty levelling it. This operation will make it more malleable and therefore easier to adapt to the relief and to follow its curve.

Step 4 : finishing

Once the graphic kit is installed, heat it up. Make sure you apply pressure to the entire surface again, The heat will melt the glue and “lock” the sticker.

In case you still see air bubbles :

  • Once the kit cooled, prick the bubble squarely in the centre with a pin, then press out the air and heat again to lock.

Excess sticker :

  • In some cases, it may be necessary to cut off the excess sticker with a cutter, but be sure to do this cold, because once heated the sticker becomes malleable and less rigid.
