The YZF 450 Template: Built for Pure Competition

What Sets the YZF 450 Apart

The Yamaha YZF 450 is a pure motocross competition machine – not road-registered, not street-legal, and intended exclusively for circuit and off-road use. It is the only bike in its class to retain a reversed cylinder head, with the intake positioned at the front and the exhaust at the rear, lowering the centre of gravity for optimised handling on the track.

The engine is a liquid-cooled single-cylinder DOHC 4-stroke with 4 titanium valves. Power output reaches approximately 58 to 59 bhp on the 2023 and later generations (dyno figures), compared to around 52 bhp on the early 2003-2005 models. The 2023 redesign brought a new engine, an all-new frame, and a weight reduction of approximately 2.3 kg. The displacement was set at 449 cc from 2003 to comply with AMA Motocross regulations, with electronic fuel injection introduced across the range from 2010.

Year Compatibility

YZF 450 fairings vary across four main generation blocks: 2010-2013, 2014-2017, 2018-2022, and 2023 to present. Each block requires a specific graphic cut. The 50th Anniversary special edition (white and purple livery inspired by 1990s Yamaha YZ heritage) covers the 2024 model year. The exact cut should be confirmed by year before ordering.

Which Generation Is Your Bike?

If you are unsure of your generation block, compare your side panel and tank shroud profile against the images in each year listing. Materials and Premium Vinyl

All stickersproject graphic kits are produced in 200 to 300 micron vinyl with UV-resistant lamination, built to withstand the demands of motocross competition. Materials are sourced from professional-grade references: 3M, Hexis, Oracal, and Avery. Application is done with a squeegee on clean, dry fairings – the graphics are repositionable during fitting and removable without residue on panels in good condition.
