MT-09 2017-2020 graphic kits are designed specifically for the second generation Yamaha MT-09 (phase 2), covering model years 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. These kits are not compatible with MT-09 models from 2021 onwards, which feature a completely redesigned fairing. All kits are manufactured to order in France, available in a range of colour schemes with full custom options.

If your Yamaha MT-09 is a 2021 or later, graphic kits for the third generation are available in the MT-09 2021-2023 graphic kit category. For the 2024 model year, see the MT-09 2024 graphic kit page.

Compatibility: MT-09 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 – second generation

The Yamaha MT-09 second generation covers model years 2017 through 2020. These years share the same bodywork architecture, distinct from the first generation (2013-2016) and the third generation (2021 onwards). Graphic kits in this category are cut specifically for this fairing and will not fit pre-2021 or post-2020 bodywork from other generations.

Phase 1, phase 2, phase 3: why the year matters

The MT-09 has gone through three distinct fairing generations, each requiring its own template:

  • Phase 1 (2013-2016): original bodywork with a round headlight unit.
  • Phase 2 (2017-2020): updated in 2017 with a new LED “insect face” headlight, restyled fairing scoops, seat raised 5 mm, a quickshifter and slipper clutch as standard. Engine: 847 cc, 113 hp (82.8 kW) at 10,000 rpm, 87.5 Nm at 8,900 rpm. Kerb weight: 193 kg.
  • Phase 3 (2021+): full redesign featuring a new 890 cc engine, new frame, 5 riding modes, full LED lighting and bodywork that is entirely non-interchangeable with phase 2.

If your MT-09 is a 2017, 2018, 2019 or 2020, you are in the right place.

100% custom, made in France

Every MT-09 2017-2020 graphic kit is produced to order in France, using a template cut specifically for phase 2 bodywork. Colours, finishes, logos and race numbers are fully customisable before production starts.

Standard, semi-custom or fully custom?

Three levels of personalisation are available:

  • Standard: select a catalogue design as shown, no modification.
  • Semi-custom: choose an existing design and adjust the colours to match your preferences – for instance, a 2018 MT-09 in matt black with red race numbers.
  • Fully custom: a complete bespoke creation. You define colours, layout, graphics and any personal logos. A design mockup is sent for your approval before production begins.

For the full range of personalisation options, explore our Yamaha sport graphic kits hub or see our helmet graphic kits for a coordinated bike and helmet look. To complete the MT range, the MT-07 2018-2020 graphic kit is also available.

Premium vinyl and longevity

MT-09 2017-2020 graphic kits are produced in laminated polymeric vinyl (brands: 3M, Hexis, Oracal), 200 to 300 microns thick for road use, with built-in UV protection to maintain colour integrity over time. This material resists road debris, temperature variation and regular outdoor exposure without cracking or peeling.

Application is straightforward at room temperature using a squeegee on a clean, dry fairing. Kits are removable without residue on clean fairings, making them a fully reversible customisation option. Longevity extends over several years depending on maintenance conditions – avoid high-pressure direct washing and abrasive products.

FAQ – MT-09 2017-2020 graphic kit

Here are the most common questions from Yamaha MT-09 phase 2 owners before ordering.

Which Yamaha MT-09 model years are compatible with these graphic kits?

These graphic kits are compatible with the Yamaha MT-09 second generation only: model years 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. They are not compatible with phase 1 (2013-2016) or phase 3 (2021 onwards), which have different bodywork geometries.

What is the difference between the MT-09 phase 2 (2017-2020) and phase 3 (2021+)?

The 2021 MT-09 (phase 3) received a full redesign: new 890 cc engine, new frame, 5 riding modes, full LED lighting and entirely new bodywork. The fairing panels are not interchangeable with phase 2. If your bike is a 2021 or later, use the MT-09 2021-2023 graphic kit category instead.

What is the difference between the MT-09 phase 1 (2013-2016) and phase 2 (2017-2020)?

The phase 2 update introduced in 2017 brought a new LED headlight with a distinctive angular design, restyled fairing scoops, a seat raised by 5 mm, a quickshifter and a slipper clutch. The overall fairing geometry changed enough to require a separate template for graphic kits.

How many designs are available in this category?

This category lists all available two-colour graphic kit designs for the MT-09 phase 2, with a choice of matt or gloss finishes. The exact number of catalogue designs is shown directly in the product listing above.

Can I personalise the colours and add my own logos?

Yes. Three levels are available: standard (catalogue as shown), semi-custom (colour changes on an existing design), and fully custom (complete bespoke creation including personal logos and race numbers). A design mockup is validated before production for all custom orders.

What vinyl is used – thickness and outdoor durability?

Kits are produced on laminated polymeric vinyl from 3M, Hexis or Oracal, 200 to 300 microns thick (road grade). A UV-resistant laminate protects the printed layer. Longevity extends over several years depending on maintenance conditions.

Can I apply the graphic kit myself?

Yes. Installation is accessible without professional tools: a squeegee, a cleaning spray and a heat source such as a hair dryer. Full application instructions are included. For complex fairing curves on the MT-09 phase 2, taking your time or seeking professional installation avoids air bubbles and misalignment.

What are the lead times for production and delivery?

Lead times depend on the personalisation level chosen. Standard and semi-custom orders are generally processed faster than fully custom orders, which require a mockup validation step. Contact us directly for current production and delivery times.
