Why the SC59 fairing template matters

What sets the 2008-2011 generation apart

The SC59 is the ninth generation of the Fireblade, unveiled at the Paris Motor Show on 28 September 2007 for the 2008 model year. Honda fitted an all-new 999 cc engine with a wider bore and shorter stroke (76 x 55.1 mm), titanium valves and a 12.3:1 compression ratio. Power output reaches 176 bhp (130 kW) at 12,000 rpm, with torque of 112 to 115 Nm at 8,500 rpm and a rev limiter at 13,000 rpm. The fairing was completely redesigned – more compact and angular, with a twin headlight cluster and an underseat exhaust. The overall look is radically different from the previous SC57 (2006-2007).

Compatibility across the 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 model years

The SC59 bodywork remains virtually identical throughout the entire 2008-2011 run. In 2009, Honda introduced the optional factory-fitted C-ABS combined braking system and lighter indicators, with no changes to the fairing panels. The 2010-2011 minor update addressed the ACG flywheel (inertia increased by 6.87%) and the number plate bracket, but the bodywork stayed the same. A single template covers all four model years: a graphic kit cut for a 2008 CBR 1000 RR fits a 2009, 2010 or 2011 without alteration.

Do you have a different CBR 1000 RR model year?

The next generation – the SC77 – launched from 2017 with a completely different fairing and onboard electronics (inertial measurement unit, riding modes): there is no cross-compatibility with SC59 graphic kits. If you own one of those, head to the CBR 1000 RR 2017 graphics kit page. For the 2012-2016 model years (updated SC59), visit the CBR 1000 RR 2012 graphics kit page. For the current generation, see the CBR 1000 RR-R 2020 graphics kit. The full Honda range is available on the Honda graphics kits page.

Materials and vinyl

All kits use premium vinyl between 200 and 300 microns thick, sourced from the professional ranges of Hexis. An anti-UV laminate protects the graphics against sunlight and weathering over time. Application is done with a squeegee at room temperature – no specialist tools required.

On a sound surface (no flaking paint or deteriorated primer), the kit removes cleanly without leaving any residue. That reversibility is useful both when changing designs and when selling the bike on.

To complete your personalisation, the helmet graphics kit range uses the same materials and the same level of customisation. The full Honda catalogue is available on the Honda graphics kits page.

FAQ – Honda CBR 1000 RR Fireblade 2008-2011

Does the kit fit all model years from 2008 to 2011?

Yes. The SC59 fairing is virtually identical across the 2008-2011 range. The changes introduced in 2009 (C-ABS, lighter indicators) and in 2010-2011 (flywheel, number plate bracket) do not affect the bodywork panels. One template covers all four model years.

What is the difference between the SC59 (2008-2011) and the previous SC57 (2006-2007)?

The SC57 and SC59 share no fairing panels. The SC59 design is more compact and angular, with a grouped twin headlight and an underseat exhaust – a look that is entirely different from the SC57. A graphic kit cut for the SC59 will not fit a SC57, and vice versa.

Is the CBR 1000 RR 2008 eligible for an A2 licence?

No. The SC59 produces 176 bhp (130 kW) and cannot be restricted to the A2 standard (35 kW / 47 bhp maximum). It requires a full A licence.

How many designs are available for this generation?

There are 14 designs in the catalogue for the Honda CBR 1000 RR 2008-2011. Every design can be personalised in terms of colours, finishes and the addition of logos or rider numbers.

Can I replicate the original Honda factory colours or go for a fully custom look?

Both options are available. You can request a faithful recreation of an original Honda factory colour scheme, or start from scratch with a unique design. In either case, an artwork proof is submitted for your approval before production starts.

Are the materials durable and removable?

The premium 200 to 300 micron vinyl (Hexis) comes with an anti-UV laminate to withstand the elements. On a sound surface, it peels away cleanly with no residue, making it straightforward to change designs or sell the bike without leaving marks. The durability is that of a professional-grade vinyl designed for sustained outdoor use.
