What sets this generation apart

The 2009-2012 generation brought a completely redesigned fairing – sharper and more angular, aligned with the look of the ZX-10R of the time. The engine displaces 599cc (internal code ZX600R9F-RCF), producing 128 hp at 14,000 rpm and 67 Nm of torque at 11,800 rpm. From 2009, the Showa Big Piston Fork (BPF) – a technology derived from MotoGP – delivers more progressive braking and improved stability under hard use. From 2010, a slipper clutch became standard equipment, alongside a revised engine featuring double-bore intake funnels at two heights. The result: a kerb weight of around 191 kg, a top speed of approximately 258 km/h, and a bike built squarely around track performance.

The fairing template is shared across the entire 2009-2012 generation. A kit ordered for a 2009 model fits a 2010, 2011, or 2012 without any modification. The 599cc displacement was carried through the full generation before Kawasaki returned to 636cc in 2013 – that change came with different bodywork panels and mounting points, making templates non-interchangeable between the two generations.

Kits are produced in premium vinyl between 200 and 300 microns thick, sourced from established suppliers: 3M, Hexis, Oracal, and Avery Dennison. A UV-resistant laminate is applied as a final layer to protect colours over time, including under track conditions and variable weather.

Application is done with a squeegee at room temperature. The graphics are removable without leaving adhesive residue on a sound, clean surface. No primer or specialist tools are required.

Can the ZX-6R 2009-2012 be ridden on an A2 licence?

No. At 128 hp at 14,000 rpm, the ZX-6R 2009-2012 exceeds the power limit permitted under an A2 licence. A full A licence is required.
