What sets the Gen 4 apart (2011-2015)

The Gen 4 marks the first complete redesign of the Ninja ZX-10R since 2004. The 998 cc inline-four engine, liquid-cooled, DOHC with 16 valves, produces between 197 and 200 bhp depending on the model year – 197 bhp at 13,000 rpm on the base spec, up to 200 bhp on the 2015 model year. The gearbox was redesigned with a stacked layout, altering the fairing profile compared to the Gen 3 (2008-2010). The rear shock absorber is now mounted horizontally above the swingarm to centralise mass. The Gen 4 was also the first Japanese superbike to come with predictive traction control (S-KTRC) as standard, and introduced the Showa Big Piston Fork 43 mm inverted front forks along with KIBS (Kawasaki Intelligent Braking System) as an option.

Year-by-year compatibility across 2011-2015

A single template covers the full 2011-2015 range: the Gen 4 fairing does not change structurally across these five model years. In 2013, Kawasaki added an electronic Öhlins steering damper, with no impact on the fairing shape or side panel profiles. Materials and vinyl

All kits are produced using premium vinyl at 200 to 300 microns thickness, sourced from 3M, Hexis, Oracal and Avery Dennison. An anti-UV laminate is applied to each piece to keep the colours vibrant over time, including under prolonged sun exposure.

Application is done with a squeegee at room temperature, with no special tools required. The vinyl is repositionable during fitting and applies bubble-free to a clean, degreased fairing. When it comes to selling the bike or changing the look, the kit removes cleanly without leaving adhesive residue on an undamaged surface.

Does this graphics kit fit all ZX-10R model years from 2011 to 2015?

Yes. The Gen 4 template covers 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 without distinction. The fairing shape does not change across these five years. You do not need to specify the exact year when ordering unless the individual design listing states otherwise.

What is the difference between the Gen 4 (2011-2015) and the next generation?

The Gen 5 (2016 onwards) introduces several features absent from the Gen 4: a Bosch 5-axis IMU, launch control, quickshifter, 330 mm brakes (up from 310 mm) and a Showa Balance Free Fork. The fairing is completely restyled, making the templates incompatible. A Gen 4 kit will not fit a 2016 or later ZX-10R.

Is the ZX-10R 2011-2015 eligible for an A2 licence?

No. Producing between 197 and 200 bhp depending on the year, the ZX-10R Gen 4 exceeds the 35 kW limit for A2 category by a considerable margin. This model requires a full A licence with no power restriction.

Can I recreate the original Kawasaki factory colours or go with a custom design instead?

How easy is it to remove the vinyl without damaging the fairing?

Straightforward, provided the fairing surface is in good condition. The premium 200-300 micron vinyl used in our kits removes cleanly at room temperature without leaving glue or residue on an undamaged panel. No aggressive solvents are needed.
