SC59 Generation – why the 2012-2016 fairing template matters

What sets the restyled CBR 1000 RR SC59 2012 apart

The 2012 restyled SC59 was the most significant update to the Fireblade since 2008, coinciding with the model’s 20th anniversary. The inline four-cylinder 999.8 cc engine produces 178 hp at 12,000 rpm (131 kW), with PGM-DSFI fuel injection retuned for the low-to-mid range, delivering around 25% more tractability than the previous generation. The front fairing adopts a completely new nose inspired by the CBR 600, dropping the flat-nose design of the 2008-2011 models. The aluminium wheels were redesigned from 3 to 12 spokes, giving the bike a noticeably different profile. The suspension also changed significantly: a 43 mm Showa Big Piston Fork (BPF) up front and the Showa Balance Free Rear Cushion (Unit Pro-Link) at the rear. All of these changes make the SC59 restyle fairing template strictly incompatible with cuts designed for any adjacent generation.

Which years are covered by this template?

The SC59 restyle template covers the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 model years. The side panels, headstock fairing, seat tail and flanks share identical shapes throughout this entire period, so the same cut fits any bike in this range regardless of year. A kit ordered for a 2014 model will fit a 2016 without any adjustment.

Which generation is your bike?

If your CBR 1000 RR predates 2012, the CBR 1000 RR 2008 graphics kit covers the earlier SC59 generation. From 2017 onwards the fairing changed again – see the CBR 1000 RR 2017 graphics kit for that series. For the SP/SP2 version from 2020, the CBR 1000 RR-R 2020 graphics kit page has all available options. All Honda models are listed under Honda graphics kits.

13 designs available for the CBR 1000 RR SC59 2012-2016

The catalogue includes 13 designs for this generation, from colourways inspired by the original Fireblade liveries to fully bespoke compositions. Each option is cut from the SC59 restyle template and delivered ready to apply, with all pieces numbered to make installation straightforward.

Materials and vinyl

The vinyl used is 200 to 300 microns thick, sourced from the premium ranges of 3M, Hexis, Oracal and Avery Dennison. A UV-resistant laminate is applied over the printed surface to protect the colours over time and withstand road debris and cleaning products.

Application is done with a squeegee at room temperature – no specialist tools required. The vinyl is removable without residue on a sound surface, so you can change your design without damaging the original fairing finish.

To customise your helmet in the same way, the helmet graphics kit section offers the same made-to-order process.

FAQ – CBR 1000 RR Fireblade 2012-2016

Does this kit fit all model years between 2012 and 2016?

Yes, the SC59 restyle template is identical from 2012 to 2016. Whether you have a 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 or 2016 model, the cut is the same and the kit will fit all fairing panels correctly.

What is the difference between the 2012-2016 and the 2008-2011 generation?

The 2012 restyle introduced a completely new front fairing nose inspired by the CBR 600, replacing the flat-nose design of the 2008-2011 models. The wheels were redesigned from 3 to 12 spokes and the suspension geometry was significantly revised. These changes make the fairing template strictly different: a kit cut for a 2008-2011 model will not fit a 2012-2016 bike.

Is the CBR 1000 RR SC59 eligible for an A2 licence?

No. The CBR 1000 RR SC59 is not A2 eligible. Even in restricted form it exceeds the A2 threshold, and the bike requires a full A licence to ride legally.

How many designs are available for this model?

The catalogue lists 13 designs for the CBR 1000 RR SC59 2012-2016, ranging from original Fireblade-inspired colourways to fully custom compositions.

Can I replicate an original Honda factory colour scheme?

Yes, several designs take direct inspiration from the factory Fireblade liveries offered on this generation. You can also start from scratch and build a completely unique colourway – a digital proof is reviewed and approved with you before the kit goes into production.

Is the vinyl removable without damaging the fairing?

Yes, provided the fairing surface is in good condition (no cracks or flaking paint). The 200-300 micron vinyl can be removed by hand or with a heat gun, leaving no adhesive residue and no damage to the underlying surface.
