Eight designs are available in the catalogue, from colourways close to original Yamaha liveries to fully custom compositions. Select your design below to receive your proof.

The T-MAX 2001-2007 : phase 1 generation and its specifics

The T-Max 500 first generation (codes 4XT/5GJ, model years 2001 to 2007) is the scooter that redefined the maxi-scooter category: motorcycle-like handling, powerful parallel twin engine, 14-inch wheels (14″ front and rear on 4XT 2001-2003, 14″ front / 15″ rear on 5GJ 2004-2007) and a tubular steel frame. Its phase 1 bodywork is distinct from phase 2 (2008-2011) and from later generations (530, 560), which means graphics kits are not interchangeable between generations.

What sets the phase 1 T-MAX apart

The engine is a 499 cc parallel twin, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, double overhead camshaft, 4 valves per cylinder. The transmission is fully automatic via belt-driven variator with an oil-bath chain – no manual clutch. Power output varies by sub-generation: the 4XT (2001-2003) produces 40 hp (29.4 kW) at 7,000 rpm, while the 5GJ (2004-2007) stepped up to approximately 44 hp (32.6 kW) at 7,500 rpm following the switch to fuel injection. In both cases, power remains below the A2 licence threshold of 35 kW: the T-MAX 2001-2007 is natively A2-eligible without any restrictor.

Compatibility across model years 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007

All seven model years of the phase 1 share the same bodywork template. A single graphics kit covers the entire 2001-2007 range without modification. If your T-MAX is from 2008 or later, it is a phase 2 model or a later generation with a different body shape that requires a separate kit.

Which model year do you have?

If you own a T-MAX from a different generation, check the T-MAX 2008-2011 GRAPHICS KITS or the T-MAX 530 2012-2016 GRAPHICS KITS depending on your model year. Browse all available models in the Yamaha scooter brand hub.

Custom graphics, made in France

The T-MAX 2001-2007 carries a pioneering aesthetic that works equally well with a stock-inspired look or a radical custom design: dark colourways, sport accents, rider numbers or a replica of a factory livery. Our service covers both approaches.

Standard or fully custom?

Catalogue designs are available to order directly. To go further, every element is adjustable: base colours, secondary colours, logos, rider numbers, gloss or matte finishes. A fitting service is also available if you prefer to have the installation handled by our team.

8 designs in the catalogue

Eight options are available for the T-MAX 2001-2007 graphics kit, from timeless colourways close to original Yamaha liveries to original graphic compositions. Every order generates a digital proof sent for your approval before manufacturing starts – no cutting begins without your sign-off.

Materials and vinyl: premium quality

All our graphics kits are made with top-grade vinyl, 200-300 microns thick, from established manufacturers: 3M, Hexis, Oracal or Avery depending on the finish selected. A UV-resistant laminate is applied to every kit to protect colours against weathering and sunlight over time.

Application is done with a squeegee, without excessive heat. The vinyl remains removable without damaging original bodywork panels. For your helmet, explore our dedicated range in the helmet graphics kit section and our full maxi-scooter category hub.

FAQ – T-MAX 2001-2007 graphics kits

Are these graphics kits compatible with all model years 2001 to 2007?

Yes. All seven model years of the phase 1 generation (codes 4XT/5GJ) share the same bodywork template. A single kit covers 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 without any modification.

What is the difference between the T-MAX 2001-2007 and the phase 2 (2008-2011)?

The T-MAX phase 2 (2008-2011) received a redesigned body with a different front fairing and reshaped side panels. The cut templates are distinct: graphics kits from the two generations are not interchangeable. For phase 2, see the T-MAX 2008-2011 GRAPHICS KITS.

Is the T-MAX 2001-2007 eligible for an A2 licence?

Yes. The 499 cc engine produces 29.4 kW on the 4XT (2001-2003) and 32.6 kW on the 5GJ (2004-2007). In both cases, power remains below the A2 threshold of 35 kW: this generation is natively A2-eligible with no restrictor needed. The graphics kit is a visual decoration only: it is fully compatible with all power configurations.

How many designs are available for the T-MAX 2001-2007?

Eight designs are available in the catalogue. Each can be customised in colours, logos and finishes to match your preferences.

Can I keep the original Yamaha colours or choose freely?

Both options are available. Some designs take inspiration from Yamaha factory liveries; others offer original graphic compositions. In all cases, every colour remains adjustable at order stage – base colours, accents, logos and finishes are all modifiable.

What vinyl are the kits made from?

Our kits use 200-300 micron vinyl from 3M, Hexis, Oracal or Avery, with integrated UV laminate. The thickness and laminate ensure lasting durability against weathering and washing.
