The 2020-2023 generation of the 1290 Super Duke R

What makes the Beast 3.0 different (specs and generation code)

The KTM 1290 Super Duke R 2020-2023 is the third generation of the Beast platform. The LC8 V-twin displaces 1301 cc and delivers 180 bhp (132 kW) at 9,500 rpm with 140 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. The 2020 restyle brings a trellis frame announced as three times stiffer in torsion and 2 kg lighter, a 6-axis IMU (6D) managing cornering ABS, traction control and anti-wheelie, revised WP Apex suspension with a linkage rear shock, and a total weight saving of 5 kg. The restyled fairing – sharper and more minimalist – requires its own dedicated template.

Compatibility across model years (single template 2020-2023)

The 1290 Super Duke R bodywork is consistent across the entire 2020-2023 generation. A graphic kit produced on this template fits a Super Duke R 2020, 2021, 2022 or 2023 without modification. The generation – not the exact model year – is what determines template compatibility.

If your Super Duke R is a 2024 or later, the fairing was redesigned and a separate template applies. Find the right kits in our SuperDuke 1390 2024 graphic kit category. For the 2017-2019 generation, the bodywork also differs from the Beast 3.0.

Materials and vinyl used on SuperDuke 1290 2020-2023 graphic kits

Kits are produced on premium automotive vinyl – brands include 3M, Hexis, Oracal and Avery Dennison – at 200 to 300 microns thickness for road use. Each kit is finished with an anti-UV laminate to protect printed colours over multiple seasons. Application is done with a squeegee at room temperature; the vinyl is repositionable during installation, which reduces errors without prior experience. Removal leaves no adhesive residue on clean, degreased factory bodywork and does not affect the original paint.

FAQ – KTM 1290 Super Duke R Graphic Kit (2020-2023)

Is the Super Duke R 2020 graphic kit compatible with 2021, 2022 and 2023 models?

Yes. The KTM 1290 Super Duke R bodywork is consistent across the full 2020-2023 generation (Beast 3.0). A kit designed for this template fits any of these four model years without modification.

What is the difference between a graphic kit for the 2020-2023 Super Duke R and the 2017-2019 generation?

The two generations have distinct fairing shapes. A kit designed for the 2017-2019 template does not match the Beast 3.0 bodywork panels – selecting the correct generation at order stage is essential.

Is the KTM 1290 Super Duke R 2020-2023 eligible for an A2 licence?

No. The 1290 Super Duke R produces 180 bhp (132 kW) in standard specification, well above the 70 kW threshold that allows A2 restriction. It is restricted to full A licence holders.

How many designs are available for the 1290 Super Duke R 2020-2023?

12 designs are available in the catalogue. Each is a configurable base – colours, finishes (satin, pearl, chrome) and personalisation elements such as rider numbers or logos can all be adjusted at the order stage.

Can I replicate the original KTM orange colourway or create a fully custom design?

Both are available. KTM orange is part of the standard colour palette. Full custom design allows any RAL colour reference, combinations of finishes on a single kit, and integration of team logos or a personalised rider number.

What materials are used – vinyl type, thickness, UV resistance?

Kits are produced on premium automotive vinyl from 3M, Hexis, Oracal or Avery Dennison at 200 to 300 microns, with an anti-UV laminate applied to the surface. Removable without adhesive residue on clean, degreased factory bodywork, without damaging the original paint.
